Veglio Michelino & Figlio “Italian Red”
Barbera d’Alba DOC – Red
Grape Variety: 100% Barbera
Production Zone: Diano d’Alba – Roddi
Processing: Softly pressed. After fermentation, wine is refined in large oak barrels for over 6 months.
Duration: Lasts at least 5 years
Characteristics: With a complex nose, showing smoky dark cherry fruit and a mixture of berry fruits, this smooth and full-bodied wine shows the same complexity on the palate. Veglio Michelino e Figlio’s Barbera d’Alba has strong alcohol content and is best served with red meats and strong cheeses.
Topper’s notes: I really enjoy presenting wines from small producers because I always feel that they are closer to the earth both in their beliefs in how to care for it and take enormous pride in the finished product. A complex medium bodied smooth textured red with supple flavor profiles balanced by medium core of tannin for structure which continues into the long lasting finish. ****
