“The 2013 Zinfandel is our 13th vintage from the Zephyr Ridge Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. Harvested in late September, the wine was fermented to dryness on the skins and aged in a mixture of American and French oak for 25 months before bottling in December 2015. Enjoy with prime rib, rack of lamb or port-glazed pork loin.”
Topper’s Notes: I had to try this Zinfandel because Washington is not been known for Zinfandel. I sense a bit of burly notes in this wine which reminds me of the old Zinfandel’s of the past in California and what a treat to my palate. The nose has abundant aromas of over-ripe black cherries and spice. The body has rich lush berry flavors structured on a good dose of tannin for structure yet smooth across the palate. The finish is robust and long lasting.
